Blessed Be The Breadmakers...

One of the prezzies we received during this recent capitalist season of good-will was an automatic breadmaker, similar to the one pictured left. I was quite enthusiastic about getting this particular machine, as the smell of fresh bread wafting around the gaff is meant to be very pleasing on the old proboscis...even more so if it masks the smell of stale cat's urine that cannot be washed out of the hallway carpet.

It takes about three hours to make a simple french loaf (double that if you want the complicated version, which involves not reading the instructions). It even makes butter and some desserts as an added bonus!
This is an item that I have coveted for some time and the funny thing was that we never gave any clues as to what was required present-wise (TIP; Moaning about the state of your car / heating system and / or lack of double glazing gets you no where, for these are considered expensive as gifts and any potential benefactors to your true cause will think you are 'taking the piss').

It's pretty obvious what I'm going to do with this; I'm going to weld it onto my Farfisa so that I can dish out fresh (rock'n') rolls to a hungry audience at a live gig. I don't think that's been done before, has it? At last, I seem to be using my loaf.

Many years ago it was.....I used to make bread! brown or white. Every day..there I was kneading away the hours and leaving the dough to 'prove' then smashing it all back down again only to do it all again. That process lasted about four hours, then it was oven time! I can remember tapping the underneath of the loaf in order to see if it was done! Ahh, the smell.

The welding idea sounds like a winner. It will keep those hungry fans happy. Perhaps you can dispense a few fishes to go with it?

JDA - I bet you used to brew your own wine aswell...

Did you have one of those kits that cut wine bottles in half and made glasses out of them too? They were all the rage once upon a time - ha ha.

I have a breadmaker and used to make bread twice a week. Then I got told to reduce the carbs and my breadmaker looks a bit forlorn. A pity, as I love fresh bread, especially with soup.

Try bread made with honey and pine nuts - totally yummers!
