We weren't going to get conned. Why go out on Valentine's day for a meal when everything was going to be fully booked and over-priced? It was much more sensible that we headed off for Bluewater shopping arcade the day before to yet again sample the delights of Yo! Sushi (the MacDonalds of the raw fish fast food restaurant that, contrary to popular opinion, is not owned and over-seen by Japanese folk, but by some Greek chap. I think.)
We'd been here a few times before as it was the only sushi bar we knew of that had easy parking. We really could do with a sushi bar in Croydon instead of the countless noodle bars that have invaded this part of London. Anyhow the meal was nice (don't ask me the names of all the individual dishes we had, but most of them tasted quite nice - especially the one with the tiger prawns in them).
After loafing around for the rest of the week, it was time to pay another visit to Selhurst Park to see Steve Bruce's dis-jointed hooter hovering over a wry smile as the boys from Brum did us to the tune of 1 - 0 to them. Sorry Howesy, Paul Ifill tried his best but it just weren't good enough. After that it was straight up to Chelmsford for a houseparty (which was nice), and Sunday was partly spent in a pub in the picturesque village of Writtle, where I seriously thought of buying a retirement home...until I saw the prices in an estate agent's window.
On the way home we ended up in a noodle bar in Beckenham. Typical.
Viva old school blogging!
Oh, and here's Important Historical Document (part 2); A truly dreadful performance of Adam and the Ants (when they used to be cool) doing their song "Plastic Surgery" - the studio recorded version is marvellous, but this is all I could find!
For those that are having trouble activating the embedded version, here's the link.

Yes I've rather gone off Starbucks - mind you I think you probably know that. But mmmm....yo sushi - I could eat some now I'm starving.
I stayed in by myself on Valentines Day - who said romance isn't dead?!
Hmmm not sure exactly went wrong with Adam's performance there. Pretty much everything I think. He got the shirt off OK but the equipment smashing was definitely lacklustre.
RoMo - "I stayed in by myself on Valentines Day - who said romance isn't dead?!"
It's not that surprising seeing as though you announced yourself as 'Munter of the Week' on the 13th Feb, is it? You've only got yerself to blame...
DH - I wonder if Adam's bi-polar tendencies were on display here in that video clip? Somebody mentioned that on the YouTube comments box after seeing it. They should've taken lessons in equipment smashing from Pete Townsend, I totally agree Dick, it was a piss-poor effort that we witnessed.
Bloody hell, terrible rehearsal room fayre from Adam there. I like some of his earlier material as well as the Smash Hits cover star stuff but it's not surprising he sacked half the band when he wanted to become a pop star. Still, he was a nice bit of eye candy ...
Yay, Chelmsford! Writtle's a bit pricey, but very pretty if you don#t mind duck crap on your lawn.
Betty - I thought it was Malcolm MacClaren that nicked his band from him to start Bow Wow Wow. Adam had a good cry over that, which is not surprising as he paid the dodgy svengali a four figure sum to make him a household name. Still, he recovered as soon as he met up with Marco Pirroni and the rest as they say is "Making History..."
I still think the Dirk Wears White Sox stuff is better though.
Llewtrah - I'd gladly live with treading in duck shit if I had a nice homely village pub like the Rose & Crown to frequent.
I've been to Bluewater 3, possibly 4, times now. My mother navigates and is fine till it comes to finding a car park. In defiance of "follow the signs" she claims to know the region and promptly gets us lost. We end up bck where we started and end up following the signs anyway.
I prefer Lakeside as it's on my side of the Dartford Crossing and therefore cheaper to get to.
Why is it that you easily get parking at Lakeside but finding vacant spaces at Bluewater seems a major headache?
