The Whippet Done Well

I'm not going to faff about trying to do a write up of last night's gig (The Stooges at the Royal Festival Hall) when RoMo will soon have a detailed one that'll put any current rock journo's writing abilities to shame. All I'm going to mention are the following points: It was superb, the sound was incredible, the band played fantastically tight, I recognised more songs than I thought I would, brilliant atmosphere, original line-up from "back in the day" - with the exception of Mike Watt on bass (of The Minutemen and fIREHOUSE) who played with great enthusiasm, I loved hearing the original version of "I Feel Allright" for the first time live (great Chaos Jazz overtones in the chorus to the version I'm used to hearing), there was a stage invasion during "No Fun" encouraged by...*deep breath*...Iggy - a man who recently celebrated his 60th year on the planet; he stage-dived, he writhed all around the place all through the gig, his wriggling torso is a separate entity, what IS he on??? In short, if you weren't there, you missed a blinder.

Here's a pic of RoMo (below left) cavorting with Iggy at the backstage after show party. Last week it was Lemmy, next week it'll be Thijs van Leer from Dutch prog band Focus. Does this woman have no shame?RoMo: "Aw go on Iggs, show me that belly dancing routine you do with your abs again...you're so much more muscular than Don Letts, ooohhh!"
