Cor, blimey! I don't know about you lot, but I'm looking forward to hearing these re-mastered Beatles albums. Play.com are flogging 'em as a boxset for around £170. My mate Pedro Scrote (name changed to avoid criminal prosecution) will be passing me the whole gamut of songs in mp3ified glory!
And only then will I decide wether to invest in a corporate money making exercise.

To be honest I have no Beatles in my collection... Maybe I should rectify that with these releases.
They're turned up to eleven here as we speak.

If multi-million dollar Hollywood blockbusters can be bought for bargain bin prices within a few years of release - why in the name of Billy Shears has the price point for a set of vintage albums - that in today's money, probably cost tuppence ha'penny to make - been pitched at £200. Per set.
Why? Because The Beatles maintain an enduring cross-generational appeal, a tidal pulling power greater than the moon and a way getting wallets to open sesame style that no other act act or artist can match. Typically I'll defend The Fabs over any ol' nonsense - the quality of the catalogue weathers most charges. But this, this act of mean Mr Mustardness is cut from the same commercial swizzery and corporate lip-licking that led to the music business hemorrhaging punters when other (online) outlets became available.
It's almost as if the catalogue owners are gorging themselves, Mr Creasote style, on the last meal of a condemned man, with perhaps (and I'm only guessing here) the wafer thin mint being the combined Collectors /Deluxe/Prestige/edition ready for a future release.

Well I don't wish to sound mean or indeed a penny-pincher, but at the price of £11 plus a shot for single cd's (Play.com) they can keep em! 40 year old pop songs being sold for the price of the modern equivalent ... bah!
I only want 2 ... namely 'Double White' & 'Revolver' but I'm damned if I will pay the asking price ... I shall wait for a couple of months because the price will surely go down after the greedy b'stard record company have made enough money to enable them to sell the cd's at an honest price.

Not a big Beatles fan meself, but don't mind the albums being re-re-re-released cos I'm not even slightly tempted. What I find offensive and pointless is that poxy computer game they're all over.

Re-mastered, yes indeed I don't know- why not, but I wouldn't 170 quid. I am getting a little more nostalgic by the minute though, you never know say never I suppose.
Have to say the tracks Col played in his podcast did sound pretty damn good. I'll 'pick n choose' I think... don't rate any of the first 4 or 5 albums really... Rubber Soul is where it starts to get interesting for me. Thank gawd Christmas is on the horizon!

Oh and BTW - for what it's worth, Beatles CDs have NEVER been in the bargain racks. The old versions were easy a tenner at the best of times. Classics don't go outta fashion, so cough up or miss out. These will NOT come down in price.

I have about 25 Beatles on vinyl in the darkest recesses of my basement. I did receive one of those adaptor thingamabobs but I already have all the Beatles mp3'd...it was for the more obscure albums that I loved that nobody has pirated...buggers.
Anyway, much as I love them, my aging Baby Boomer hearing has been considerably damaged from listening to tunes at "11" for almost 40 years! I'm not certain that I will notice the difference?
Ringo and Paul, and the estates of John and George, will all get tens of million$ from this and the Rock Band game simply because they are the generations IT band.
Geoff - Having now heard the remastered mp3 versions and never having listened to the vinyl, I won't be able to make that comparison. The mp3s, however, do sound good.
Furtheron - I'm not sure, but I think they're using it as a gimmick.
MJ - What? Eh? Can't hear you...
Mondo - I couldn't have put it better myself, mate. I don't even know what label it's on and who gets a share of what. Parlophone, Apple Corps, EMI (unlimited supply)...

AXE FM - I have and I'm glad I didn't buy. You were right, I'm sick of 'em already!
Howesy - Thing is, there's plenty of bullets and not enough Beatles.
MoMad - I find that I'm getting more attracted to vintage model guitars in my old age and not the music itself.
Piley - I agree, Rubber Soul onwards and sod all the stuff before it. Giving up touring was the best thing The Fab Four ever did, it made them a lot more creative in the studio.
Donn - Bring back Ron McNasty or whatever his name is.
