Assault & Battery...

...on the senses. Following on from a Brentford based London legend to another, we bring to the uninitiated: Johnny Moped. These lot were a strange Sarf London / Croydon born band who indeed were mad for the racket and were a motley bunch who "bridged the gap between mid-seventies pub rock and the beery end of punk". Comprising of brothers Fred and Dave Berk on bass and drums respectively, Xerxes on saxaphone, Captain Sensible on guitar and Johnny Moped (real name Paul Halford) on vocals and occasional guitar. It sounds absolutely dreadful. But there is something there, just don't ask me what it is. Perhaps it's the excitement of a band whose members are still new to performing. Maybe that's why there's a hint of nervous energy coming forth from them in this clip of the band running through their repertoire in someone's back garden. Great for 70's nostalgists, fashions fresh from 1974 and a musical attitude a couple of years ahead of their time. It's also possibly the first celluloid appearance of the Captain who must've been 19 or 20 years old at the time.

Ahh - finally got it to load - that's bloody brilliant. I have gone all silly as Dick suggests. I might forward it to Cappy - I wonder if he has ever seen it? Johnny Moped - what a star. They were way ahead of their time.

DH - You betcha she will.

JDA - Ah the "tale", shit 'appens...

RoMo - Thought you'd like this historical document. Captain has yet to develop his stage persona. He's seen the clip by the way.

Savvy - Red Dwarf currently being repeated on "Dave TV". For discerning smegheads everywhere.

Isn't Dave just the best name for a channel? Inspired.

Yes Roster. I'm sure a couple of ex-Ariels will agree with you there.

Yes indeed.
A marvelous name.
Regarding Johnny Moped's garden, is that a punk rockery?
