Leave it out, another footie post? Noooooo!!!! Well, yay and nay. Yesterday's FA Cup third round matches didn't prove too exciting. The romantics amongst you (Macclesfield fans) were given the inevitable hiding from Chelsea and last year's winners were knocked out by the Arse. Charlton carried on with their regular form by losing again and we all await to see wether Villa can trip up Man U. I'm looking forward to the draw on Monday to see who we'll be lined up against. I bet we get sodding Swansea.

Swindon Town FC came down to Selhurst Park yesterday and really got stuck in. However, the swede-bashers just couldn't slay us out of the competition, but I'll give 'em full marks for trying. The constant shower of cold, miserable rain did very little to dampen their west country spirits (the fans were nearly as noisy as the Millwall lot from last season). In the end, the ten + coachloads of fans lamented their loss on the wasted journey back to their home town. I wonder if their Senses were Working Overtime during the actual match?

Which brings me to the sad news that Colin Moulding seems to have taken what looks to be a very long sabbatical with regards to XTC, leaving Andy Partridge in a bit of a limbo situation as to XTC releases. Although Andy does not want to kill off the XTC name, the awkwardness perhaps of using it when he seems to be the only one from the (original or not) line-up left that is willing to work on "XTC labelled" stuff. Luckily for the fans, a new project entitled "Monstrance" sees him re-united with ex-XTC keyboard player Barry Andrews for what is to be a release of improvisational musical meanderings. This will probably be far removed from the comfortable song structure of XTC musicality, but one thing is for sure - the creativity of Swindon's finest lives on.

Oh, shall I be first then? Most of this has gone over my head I must say - especially the footie. I sort of perk up when Chelsea are mentioned as that's the team Ihave to pretend to support otherwise my season ticket holder younger brother's will ex-communicate me.
XTC - don't know much about them - I used to do impressions of the one with the goofy teeth when they sang Plans For Nigel on Top of The Pops.
Where's Shazza? Hello Shazza (waving).
XTC are not the same as they were. Time has moved on and so has the members.
It reminds me of 'Genesis' when Peter Gabriel left and Phil Collins came onboard, I know it's only an example, they kept the band name but were never the same again. so wots 'iz name should do the same....move on and re-invent himself, he no longer needs the XTC prefix attached?
RoMo - Why pretend to support a team that pays 30 million quid for a player that doesn't deliver? Try swapping your fake allegiance to a team like Q.P.R (steady Howesy!) then at least no-one can accuse (sp?) you of being a Glory Gal...
You must've been impersonating Colin Moulding (XTC bass player who looks like a cross between Chrissy Hinde and Rudolph Nureyev) who wrote such hits as "Making Plans For Nigel", "Generals & Majors" and "Ball & Chain".
Chazza's doing fine and she sends her love.
JDA - Thing is, is that Partridge has worked hard over 25+ years to maintain and build up the XTC brand and he refuses to bury the name. He knows that some fans reckon that XTC changed the moment that Barry, Terry or even when Dave left the group. Even if they were to continue, we can't expect them to produce stuff in the same vain as "Sgt Rock". I know of only one band that hasn't changed their overall sound over the years and that happens to be Slayer!
Hah - yes - goofy Nureyev hair himself. Didn't realise his name was Colin. Hello chazza!
Re: Chelsea - whatevvah!
Ister - get over to Cpn Sensible @ munterspace - he's giving away reel to reel copies of old studio tapes
thought you might want to know - it's in his latest blog post
RMx
Cheers for the tip RoMo. Unfortunately neither Jif or myself have the required machinery to muck about with the Sensible tapes (which is a shame). Looks like they're talking about having a re-mix competition or some such type of event, which will be pretty interesting.
He really should give 'em over to Fatboy Slim to do a proper job perhaps...
P.S. I've just re-read the "Beyond the call of duty post"...I always wondered whom that was about. Shame about his habit, I used to be into the Spacemen 3, but I stopped listening to them once I ran out of biros.
I wonder if he's related to Stuart Pierce?
Ister, you must stop weedling these "Soccer" references into your blogs mate. As far as I'm concerned, the sport has been cancelled for the forseeable future.
Ister - there seems to be an impromptu drink occurring at The Dove Pub Hammersmith Mall on Saturday 12:30
Billy, Realdoc. hopefully Molly, Llewtrah, Great She Elephant. Spinsterella, Annie and myself
I've already sent a mail out to Jif - come on down - it'll be fun.
I'd love to be there RoMo, and I would've dragged Chazza along too but I had to take her down to A & E yesterday morning after she was involved in a bizarre cat-basket accident (I'm not making this up), therefore I'll be helping her convalesce over the weekend.
Hope you all have a corking time though and I expect a full write up with piccies.
Sorry I'm not laughing really, well I am but only at the bizarre nature of Chazza'a accident not the fact she's had one! I knew she was a contortionist - I could just tell! If she will keep trying to squeeze into those cat-baskets...
Oh dear - what a shame - that would have been lovely to meet you both in the real world. Nevermind - it was all v last minute and was only meant to be Billy and Realdoc - but we all begged to go too. I'm sure there'll be other drink-ups to be had in the near future. I might just invite everyone to my house one day and be done with it.
Look after Chazza won't you and tell her I hope she gets better soon.
Will report back from Operation Lig at some point over the weekend.
Romo. . .Thank you for your sweet words. The w o r r y i n g thing/that scared me was Isti left me all alone. Because of the concussion all I could do was sleep after returning home from Hos:. I was told if I was s l e e p y that I could sleep but make sure someone was a r o u n d to keep an eye.
Yes ISTI you had to go work before you butttt in. If I knew you was still going, I would have asked you to drop me off at Dads. . .
THE GARAGE. . .Guess who is not sorting it incase of a more serious accident, yes you guessed Isti.... So no he was not taking good care. . .Perhaps he will listen to you ROMO
Ooooooooh dear! Hope you're feeling better Chazza. Don't get cross - it's bad for you! Ister - sort the garage out mate!
Seems I can't do anything right these days.
It surprises me why Chazza sticks around considering how obviously useless I seem to be.
Oh stop it you two - blimey - I'm turning into Trisha of the blogwaves!
Everybody give each other a nice hug.
That's better.
PS: concussion makes you quite grumpy you know
Funny that, RoMo...I perked up after head-butting my car windscreen last month, which goes some way to show what a hardcore headbanger I am.
Ister - what were you doing nutting your windscreen anyway? That's no way to cure a migraine you know. Hope you're ok.
Romo Hi sweetheart. . .Im sorry for delay in reply. Havent felt myself lately with the ole head, kept off the computer, off the ole alcohol even for my brothers 40th birthday unfortunately.
Thanks for keepin Isti in hand. Havin a paddy as I can see. . .Im not even going to justify an answer to his so sweet lovin blogg about me.

Thanks sweetheart Ive seen your advise on many sites and you seem to be a very considerate, understanding wise owl

Cheers Chazza, however, this particular post was about the footie and XTC. I've yet to find a post on this blog that is centered around you.
