Syd Stuff For Sale!

Not that Syd had many possessions, but what he did have is to be auctioned over the inter-web shortly. He even has a hand painted bicycle going under the hammer. Apparently, the bike has a basket and a bell that rings and things to make it look good.
So, if you have bags of spare disposable wonga available, perhaps you'd like to purchase one of his paintings, art materials, hand made or modified furniture and a classical guitar and if you turn out to be dissapointed with the purchase, you can always forward it on to my good self. As well as holding this as an internet auction, it will be held live in Cambridge on 29th November 2006.

I need a copy of Hawkwind's PXR5 album on CD, which is currently deleted (if any of you benevolent bloggers have it in your CD racks and can burn a copy for me, I shall be greatfully indebted to you). The original CDs tend to pop up on Ebay every now and then, but with prices going for £50 - £100 a pop, I don't really feel justified to spend that amount of cash just because of how rare it is. And as for the MP3 version...sorry, I'm not up for a compressed catastrophe.
What d'ya mean "I'm a fussy git"?

Unfortunately the only person I know who might have a copy is the old gang from "tightwads" I haven't seen him for years...

Istvanski said...

...not that you want to see him anyway.

I shall keep a look out for you. You might try someone like Kek (Kid Shirt - see my sidebar) he has loads of stuff and is the music God of blogland. Especially where obscure or different stuff is concerned.

Poor old Syd. I think it's sad when things get auctioned off like that. I hope he gave his consent. Some twat with loads of dosh will get it and show it off down Hoxton way...I'm sure.

I'd be interested in a mouse called Gerald if there's one going.

rockmother said...

Yeah I was worried that Syd hadn't given his consent too.

He could've given the go ahead via that fab new 'medium'...spirit-world skype.

What's happened to your blog, RoMo?

rockmother said...

My blog looks ok on my computer but it's taken me all day to get yours, Swipe's and GSE and it won't let me upload pictures or links on mine at all or leave comments on Billy's. Blogger is SHIT at the moment - really SHIT. Effing infuriating. Wah wah wah - grumble moan winge. Did you strike today? I had to do a fab combo of District, Picadilly and Bakerloo today with a bit of Silverlink thrown in - marvellous. Makes a change!

Arse - now it keeps telling me to keep typing in word verif when I bloody have already. I'm going to write to them - it's crapness in the first degree.

Istvanski said...

Did you bump into that Silverlink broiler?

Yep, we were on the frontline for a wee while. It was more exhausting than doing actual work!

Blogger has really excelled itself over this past weekend and up to now. Good job we aren't paying to use a shitty service.

rockmother said...

I'm a bit scared of ever seeing the Silverlink Broiler again. I sincerely hope the trains are back on tomorrow young man! Not that I particularly minded - was still rather chilled from my weekend of hi de hi Munterville campsite-on-sea. Who was the band that sang 'cuckoo' again - I wanted to check them out. PS: my word verif is henarm - I thought they had wings!

Istvanski said...

The band that did "Coo Coo" is Sky Saxon & the Seeds. It's from an album called 'Red Planet'.

Sky Saxon is 123 years old.

Istvanski said...

Oh, and choo-choo wise, they should be running as per normal tommorow...depending on what time you're thinking of travelling.

Because most of the trains have been left unrun for 24+ hours, they have to be prepared (SWT rule, not ASLEF's I hasten to add) and therefore a train may be subject to a 24 minute delay from leaving the depot.

If this causes inconvenience to you and you have a season ticket, you are entitled to a part refund.

The thing about Sky Saxon is that most of his well known (or better known) stuff was recorded in the mid to late sixties. The 'Red Planet' album is from 2004. A lot of it sounds the same as a lot of their other stuff...it's like listening to Slayer in the sense of; you know what you're getting.

I thought he sung 'cuckoo' too until I actually read the sleevenotes.

This weeks poser: There is a link between The Seeds and the Damned, but what is it?

rockmother said...

Hhmmm - I need a clue I'm afraid

Istvanski said...

It's to do with The Damned's alter-ego band.
That's all I'm saying...I've peobably blabbered too much.

rockmother said...

Er...dreams? CBGB's? Naz Nomad? Spooks? Guessing wildly now...

Istvanski said...

You're getting warmer with Naz Nomad...

Betty said...

The thing about Sky Saxon is that he has been slightly affected by the years of self medication. Someone I know went to see them live and had a chat with him backstage. He wanted to "add" her to the hareem of women who have borne children for him and whatnaut.. He kept stalking her and phoning her at one o'clock in the morning and stuff.

As you said, he is about 123 years old. It is probably best not to make eye contact with him if you see the Seeds live.

rockmother said...

Ugh - sounds like a freak!

rockmother said...

Did Naz Nomad collaborate or do a cover of a Seeds song?

Istvanski said...

Billy - yep, Gerald's for sale at a discount price, 'cos he's getting rather old, but he's a good mouse.

Molly - Yep, I think you're right about Syd's stuff going to a Hoxton gallery. Syd's cult of personality will ensure a good turn out too.

Betty - I saw Saxon and the Seeds a few years ago. Great band, great music but Saxon was trying to cop off with a girl barely out of her teens...live on stage. It was quite embarrasing to watch, as well as revolting.

RoMo - Bingo! As Naz Nomad, The Damned covered The Seeds' "The Wind Blows Your Hair". The Nightmares' version turned out to be better than the original.
